Education & Training

My education has provided me with a strong foundation in health sciences, project management, and leadership, preparing me to tackle complex challenges in healthcare. My Bachelor of Science from Mount Royal University, with a major in General Science and minors in Biology and Entrepreneurship & Innovation, developed my analytical thinking and understanding of healthcare systems.

Additional certifications, including Project Management and Pinnacle Leadership from Mount Royal, Sport-Related Concussion Training from the University of Michigan, SafeTALK from the Canadian Mental Health Association, and Innovating in Healthcare from Harvard Business Online, have strengthened my skills in strategic planning, problem-solving, and healthcare innovation.

Now, as I pursue my Master of Health Studies at Athabasca University, I am building on this foundation to enhance my expertise in health systems, leadership, and patient-centered care, equipping me to lead transformative initiatives in healthcare.

Certified Health Executive (CHE) Designation

The Certified Health Executive (CHE) Program, offered by the Canadian College of Health Leaders (CCHL), is Canada’s only leadership designation for health professionals. It is designed to support career growth and enhance leadership capabilities in the healthcare sector by focusing on competency-based professional development, networking opportunities, and recognition within the industry.

Relevance to My Professional Development

As a non-practitioner working in healthcare leadership and operations, I have been actively seeking opportunities to enhance my professional presence and leadership skills. While I do not belong to a regulated professional body, I have taken the initiative to become a member of the Canadian College of Health Leaders (CCHL) and have been attending online presentations and events to deepen my understanding of healthcare leadership.

I see the CHE designation as an important next step in my career following the completion of my master's degree in Health Studies. This certification aligns with my goal of advancing into leadership roles such as Chief Operating Officer, Chief Innovation/Impact Officer, or Head of Strategic Operations and Product. The program’s focus on strategic decision-making, operational excellence, and healthcare transformation resonates with my current work and future aspirations.

By pursuing the CHE designation, I aim to:

  • Gain formal recognition as a healthcare leader in Canada.

  • Expand my professional network through CCHL events and mentorship opportunities.

  • Enhance my ability to drive innovation and operational improvements within healthcare organizations.

  • Demonstrate my commitment to lifelong learning and professional growth.

My current engagement with CCHL events and resources has already provided valuable insights into healthcare leadership trends and challenges, reinforcing my commitment to pursuing the CHE designation as a strategic step in my career.
